Pi receives PCI DSS Compliance Certification
23-03-2017: Hyderabad: Pi, the TIER IV data center major based at Vijayawada, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, has been awarded the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance certification version 3.2. This certification further establishes Pi’s commitment to its stakeholders, to keep up confidentiality of all data that it stores, processes, and transmits.
PCI security standards are technical and operational necessities set by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) to guard cardholder information. The standards apply to any or all entities that store, process or transmit cardholder information – with guidance for software system developers and manufacturers of applications and devices utilized in those transactions. The Council is accountable for managing the security standards, whereas compliance with the PCI set of standards is implemented by the founding members of the Council, American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc.
As per PrivacyRights.org, more than 510 million records with confidential information have been breached since January 2005. For all entities involved in the ecosystem of payment devices, applications, infrastructure and users, it is imperative that standard security procedures and technologies are used to stop theft of cardholder data. Compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) helps to alleviate these vulnerabilities and protect the sensitive data.
The first benefit that comes along with PCI DSS compliance is the fact that it gives peace of mind. Knowing that it has done everything it can to ensure the safety and security of data means less worry about any potential vulnerabilities in the system.
Also, one of the most obvious benefits of the compliance is the fact that it provides an undisputed advantage in the maintenance of customer relationships. Customers see PCI compliance as a sign that the business follows best practices. That feeling of security will directly increase buyers’ confidence.
On receiving the PCI DSS certification, Mr. T Lakshminarayana (TL), Vice President -Operations and Governance, expressed his pride, “Our commitment to deliver the best and secured, is further strengthened through us being certified as PCI DSS compliant. We take this as an accomplishment because, we have been able to get the readiness of our processes and backend operations in a record time. Speed and being relevant is the name of the game. As an enterprise class data center and cloud provider, BFSI and e-Commerce industry are two of our main verticals to serve. This PCI DSS certification would instil further confidence in the enterprise fraternity, to partner with us for their digital growth.”
